Matariki weaving

On Friday 2nd of July we had a visitor named Whae Hei who came in to teach us how to weave since it was Matariki week.  Whae Hei decided to teach us how to make a ball out of flax. Whae Hei asked Pila and Tautaina to go outside to collect some more flax so that everyone gets a flax. She then asked us to get two pieces of flax and tie the ends together, we then were told to plait the flax as if we were plaiting hair but instead of plaiting it normal we had to go over with the left flax and then under, over with the right flax.

At first I was struggling because I didn't get the hang of it but eventually I got the hang of it and finished making a ball out of flax. We then had to fold the ends inside the flax and then cut the left overs off. Overall it was fun making a ball out of flax and experiencing how to make a ball out of flax.

The Museum

On Monday the 28th of June my class room 2 went on a class trip to the Museum in terms of your inquiry pandemics and World Wars. Once we arrived to the Museum we went to our eating place and had a quick snack before our instructor took us to explore the Museum. Our instructor Aaron took us to the top floor where the World War area was, our class learnt that the official World war 1 started on June 28th 1914 and ended on November 11th 1918. After learning about the world war we all split into groups and went to explore other parts of the Museum.

My group went to the volcano house simulation where we got to experience an earthquake which was pretty funny. After our exploration we met an elephant named Rajah with a very heartbreaking past. After our little exploration around the Museum me and my group had to meet up in the meeting room but instead of going to the meeting area on time we got lost but we eventually found the meeting area.

We had a drive around the city and ended up at Maccas, we ended up staying there until it was 2:30 and then we made it back to school and played side lines for the rest of the day.
